Over the years, we’ve helped many students pass their AEIS exam
We have been preparing students for the AEIS exam since 2012.
Is your level high enough?
Many students attempted the exam, but their level is far too low for it. What they need is an English Express class to improve their English. Many students took the exam, but their level is too low. What they need is an express English class to improve their skills, and not more mind-numbing mock exam preparation.

Cambridge International Exam
An essential test you need to take before going for the AEIS exam
If you are planning to enrol your child in a public school in Singapore, the Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) are crucial for the admissions process. CEQs are globally recognised credentials that demonstrate English proficiency, ensuring your child is prepared for the challenges of the Admission Exercise for International Students (AEIS). This section will guide you on how CEQs can enhance your child’s application, outline the key requirements, and provide tips to help your child succeed.
Target CEQ test score
Here are the recommended CEQ tests and minimum scores based on your child’s age as of 1 January 2025:
Ensure your child meets these benchmarks to strengthen their application.
| Minimum Age | Applying for Year | CEQ Test | Required CEQ Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 | Primary 2 | A2 Key | 100 |
| 8 | Primary 3 | A2 Key | 120 |
| 9 | Primary 4 | A2 Key | 130 |
| 10 | Primary 5 | B1 Preliminary | 140 |
| 11 | Primary 5 | B1 Preliminary | 140 |
| 12 | Primary 5 | B1 Preliminary | 140 |
What does A2 or B1 mean?
The level mentioned refers to the CEFR framework. At each level, students are expected to perform certain tasks indicative of that level. For example, at the B1 level, students should be able to write essays of 150-250 words and engage in a conversation for up to 30 minutes. If you find it difficult to write more than 50 words or cannot maintain a decent conversation for the required duration, your proficiency level may be lower than B1.

Preparing your child for success
At English Express, we can assess your children’s current level before they take the CEQ exam. If we find that their level is below the required standard, we will need to conduct English classes to help them improve before they can sit for the exam. If their level is adequate, we will provide exam preparation to thoroughly prepare them for the exam and identify any areas where they may need additional support.
